»vortices« is ueno masaaki’s first release on the raster-noton label. masaaki takes his musical cue from natural phenomenon and the laws of nature by trying to reconstruct rather than simulate them. The results are mainly rhythmic patterns that set off a chain reaction, made up of expanding and contracting movements. The tracks offer solid sound structures that are pure and exacting, sometimes even brutal, with the pace reinforcing this impression.

ueno masaaki focuses on creating new orders in which unpredictability and indeterminacy coexist with regularity. masaaki studied composition, piano and conducting at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, Japan.
